Thousands of volunteers serve in Cincinnati Parks each year through group work events. As a long standing tradition of Cincinnatians giving back to their community; local corporations and community institutions show up for their beloved park system! Through organized efforts and well thought out projects, teams execute immeasurable support for the day to day operations of preparing our Parks for seasonal recreation use, maintaining clean and safe public spaces and have a tremendous impact on our conservation efforts.

Group projects entail grounds maintenance tasks, beautification efforts and conservation work:

Mulching tree rings & floral beds, spreading wood chips on playgrounds and picnic areas (year round)
Planting annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees (spring/fall/winter)
Invasive plant removal such as honeysuckle (summer/fall/winter), garlic mustard (spring), porcelain vine (year round)

SCHEDULING & RECRUITMENT

For the optimal volunteer experience and effective service events, we have a few requirements in place:

Scheduling

To ensure adequate prep time, we aim to schedule projects at least 6 weeks out. The time is needed to identify, plan, and secure leaders for your project. This also gives ample time to gather individual registrations by the deadline of 10 days prior to your scheduled service event.

We typically schedule projects 9am - 12pm. The three hour project hits that sweet spot of impact and positive experience for volunteers working in groups. If your group requires an alternate timeframe, we do have some flexibility. Let us know in the space provided below in this form.

Recruitment

All participants must register for the service project via a digital link. This registration includes details on the project as well as a required liability waiver for the City of Cincinnati. The deadline is set to ensure the committed number of volunteers, and so that all volunteers receive the information for the project. by this deadline to determine execution of the event. In some cases, we may need to tweak project scope, or reschedule if the number of required volunteers has not been met. This will be Parks volunteer coordinator will provide a list of all registered volunteers on the deadline.

Good Faith Agreement

Cincinnati Parks values our partnerships with corporations and local organizations that support our efforts. The impact group service projects make in our Parks is tremendous, and it requires staff resources to ensure successful outcomes. We ask for a commitment to thorough communication and participation set forth by guidelines for the project.

All participants will be required to register as Cincinnati Parks volunteers. Digital liability waiver & registration is required and will be submitted prior to the project by the determined deadline. All participants of the project must register via the digital waiver before participating in any volunteer work.

Cincinnati Parks will work to match your group with a project that is suitable for your corporation. However, due to a variety of logistics and circumstances, we request and appreciate flexibility from our partners. This agreement does not guarantee a service project.

Cincinnati Parks reserves the right to cancel a project or add, change or alter scope of work depending on but not limited to change in volunteer numbers, staffing levels, unexpected needs or repairs, available resources, changes in funding and the weather.
