Avon Woods Nature PreserveHabitat Restoration

Volunteers will primarily be working to remove honeysuckle, porcelain vine and other invasive species from the preserve.
Non - native plants such as honeysuckle and porcelain vine grow aggressively in this climate and create real problems for our native ecosystem. These invasive plants choke out the natural growth of native plants that provide more for a healthy under story and more for local wildlife. There are also safety concerns, as these plants grow fast and thick, and obstruct sight-lines in public areas. Poison Ivy also grows in these parks, please be cautious and aware of your surroundings.

Second Saturdays from 9am - 12pm: December 14 2019, March 14 2020, June 13 2020

Hauck Botanical GardenHorticulture Maintenance & Improvement

Volunteers will assist CincyParks Staff in horticulture maintenance on the grounds of Hauck Botanical Gardens. We are in the process of renovating the landscape through removing invasive species and weeds, spreading woodchips along trails, and possibly planting trees, shrubs and perennials as we work with the Civic Garden Center to transform a large section of the park into educational gardens and spaces. Not only will your hard work beautify the park gardens, it will also help in conservation efforts.

Second Saturdays from 9am - 12pm: November 9, 2019, February 8, 2020
