INFO ABOUT YOU/YOUR GROUP

EVENT / SCHEDULE DETAILS

Are you submitting new dates or corrections to a volunteer activity that is already listed?

Cancellation: Parks runs a loose cancellation policy due to the varied set of circumstances for sites, type of work and different demographics. The basic rule of thumb is cancellation in the event of severe/threatening weather, weather advisories from the National Weather Service, if the project site will be damaged due to conditions, or set of circumstances due to inadequate leader : volunteer ratio. Cancellation will be determined by staff or site leader. Volunteer Coordinator will assist in communicating to registered volunteers in the most timely manner possible.

SCHEDULING & RECRUITMENT

For the optimal volunteer experience and effective service events, we have a few requirements in place:

Scheduling & Recruitment

To ensure adequate prep time, we aim to schedule projects at least 6 weeks out. The time is needed to identify, plan, and secure leaders for your project. This also gives ample time to recruit.

  • Opportunities will be added to the internal volunteer calendar, including all appropriate staff and community organizers. The calendar invite will include recruitment listing links.
  • Opportunities will be added to the Cincinnati Parks website calendar. If indicated, social media event pages will be created on Cincinnati Parks social media outlets.
  • Registrations for opportunities will be collected and shared with organizers and staff prior to opportunity.
  • When sharing opportunities, please include the links for volunteers to register.
  • University of Cincinnati has a volunteer portal for UC students. Staff has access to admin the portal. This is a great way to connect with younger college aged students. Most of these volunteers are one-time or occasional volunteers. Some UC students do establish an account of our volunteer portal and become regular volunteers. The fulfillment rate is typically < 60% of vols that register will follow through and show.

  • This is a registration platform that provides convenient sign ups for volunteers that are interested in one-time or occasional service, and for coordinated corporate or school groups.
Does not require vols to create an account, easy to share on SM, and can help build capacity for new opportunities.

  • Do you have a connection with a group/college/school that can help recruit volunteers for your effort? Please share below and we can reach out.
